Jehovah's Witness - multiple location broadcast

Jehovah's Witness - multiple location broadcast

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Jehovah’s Witness 2013 International Conference –
streaming from multiple locations across New Zealand

This event was a massive logistical challenge, with three production and encoding units, one hub live switching and downloading unit, and then six units downloading and delivering on site. Internet delivery was also completed. Many thousands in the venues and across the globe watched the speakers, via a flawless broadcast of the three day event.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses contracted Slipstream to deliver a huge multi-location three-day streaming project – all in real-time, to multiple-venue audiences, and the internet. Six locations – Manukau, Papakura, Hamilton, Claudelands, Christchurch and Wellington – were full to capacity, with an overall total audience of approximately 50,000 people.

Three of the sites had full production filming and encoders on-site uplinking the events. From a hub at the Manukau Telstra Centre,  Slipstream downloaded those streams, live switching between each venue, with effective smooth-crossing between each. The single live stream was then delivered to all six venues and projected on big screens, allowing the live venue audience to view all three uplinking venues. The stream was also delivered globally to the Jehovah’s community across the globe.
